The black adjustable part can be used for a 2-3/8'' backset or removed if your door backset is 2-3/4''. Exterior and Interior Knobs Installation NCSEN Door Knobs have a half-moon spindle structure, which requires adjusting the latch according to the backset. Fix the latch, insert the exterior and interior knobs, and tighten the two screws. BEDROOM FUNCTION: We recommend using this function on living room or bedroom doors. It can be locked from the inside by turning the button, and unlocked from the outside with a key. The brass keys with a solid brass cylinder core provide durability and security according to NCSEN standards. EASY INSTALLATION: Installing these door knobs is simple and can be done with just a screwdriver in 15 minutes. They are reversible for left or right-handed doors, so make sure to check the opening direction before installing the latch. DOOR THICKNESS STANDARD: These door knobs fit most doors that are 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" thick. The latch backset can be adjusted to either 2-3/8" or 2-3/4". You can remove the middle black part for a 2-3/8" backset.
